Laser Assisted Hatching Procedure

Laser Assisted Hatching Procedure is one of the advanced technique of assisted reproduction wherein a targeted laser beam is used to hatch embryo. This technique is designed to improve the efficiency of assisted reproductive technology such as – IVF & ICSI. Laser technology allows controlled approach and safe and Effective technique. The targeted laser beam in the (LAH) is used to make the zona thin or breach the zona that cell mask can hatch through it and thus can have a better implantation rate.

This technique is a boost for the couple’s whose IVF has been failed many times and it is also better to use. There are the host of indications of Laser hatching and we use it effectively. LAH is one of the major contributors to our success rate.

In laser assisted hatching we take the embryo and we have a Laser machine, which has the smallest diameter of the laser beam in medicine. It is nearly 8 microns in diameter. This Laser is attached to the big microscope and prior to transferring the embryo to the womb. We cut the zona, which is the cover of the embryo by using Laser. By cutting the zona mark we weaken it so, when we put the embryo back into the womb the embryo can easily hatch and it helps in better implantation of the embryo in the womb.

It is a great technology which can be used in many patients such as patients of recurrent IVF failure or patients having more than 37 years. We use Laser to cut their embryo cover. In the patients who undergo embryo freezing, have very thick embryo. Due to freezing technology and prior to putting this embryo back to the womb. We use Lazer to cut their cover and improve the chances of implantation.

There are the host of indications of Laser hatching and we use it effectively and one of the major contributors to our success rate. The Laser has been a fantastic addition to technology which we have at IVF lab.
